Canvasser

Hours: 10+ hours/week 
Rate: $17.50/hour 
Location: Duluth, Georgia

Job Description: 

Ruwa Romman for Georgia State House District 97’s campaign is seeking Canvassers to join our team for the general election cycle through election day on November 8th. Canvassers will primarily conduct door knocking throughout the district, and will help with phone banking, text banking, event staffing, and volunteer management as needed. This job is based primarily in Duluth, Georgia. This role will report to the Campaign Manager. 

As a Canvasser, you will: 

  • Engage in direct voter contact including door knocking, phone banking, and text banking.

  • Help staff campaign and district events.

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and management.

Qualifications: 

  • Be available through election day (November 8th). 

  • Be consistently available on weekends for canvassing events, as well as have some availability during the week. 

  • Have reliable access to a car, cell phone, and computer that you can use for work.  

  • Be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

  • Be committed to following COVID-19 safety practices such as being fully vaccinated, social distancing, and masking as appropriate.

About Ruwa: Ruwa Romman, a community leader and organizer, is the Democratic nominee for Georgia State House District 97. Ruwa is a proud Muslim woman and the granddaughter of Palestinian refugees. Her family immigrated to the U.S. when she was seven years old and has called Georgia home since. She is passionate about politics, civic engagement, interfaith dialogue and community service. Ruwa received scholarships to attend Oglethorpe University in 2015, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics. Ruwa also attended the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University in 2019, graduating with a Masters in Public Policy.

Ruwa has worked to empower communities and everyday people to become more civically engaged by volunteering every election cycle since 2014. Last year, she leveraged her platform to inform thousands of Georgians on how to get involved in the 2020 elections and worked as a Field Organizer for Asian American Advocacy Fund. Ruwa helped establish the Georgia Volunteer Hub to train the influx of Georgia and national volunteers while connecting them to local Georgia organizations. In the past, she also worked as a Field Organizer for the Georgia Muslim Voter Project and Asian Americans Advancing Justice. Ruwa also served as Communications Director for CAIR Georgia. Ruwa currently works as a senior consultant for a professional services management company assisting government agencies and other stakeholders by advising, implementing, and developing improved strategies to deal with major public policy issues at the local, state, and federal level.
